Lancing Prep at Worthing: Normandy Visit - March 2014

A super time was had by all those pupils and staff who visited Normandy at the end of March. The Bayeux Tapestry, walk beside the D Day Landing Gold Beach and Caen War Memorial museum helped to bring alive the history currently studied by pupils in Years 6 to 8; the supermarket visit, lunch in ‘Flunch’, visit to the Biscuterie at Asnelles sur Mer and mealtimes at our centre provided valuable opportunities for all pupils to practise their French; and great fun was had on the early morning beach walks, playing mini-golf and at the disco. The pupils were all a credit to our school and their parents due to their excellent behaviour, cheerful company and kindness to each other throughout the three days. A huge thank you is due to Mrs Hardisty, Mrs Thomas and Mr Skinns who worked every minute of each day for and with the children, making the trip so successful and full of lasting memories.

As previously said, we will be holding a Normandy ‘scrapbook’ competition for those pupils who wish to enter; entries should give an account of the trip and be supplemented by photos, tickets, leaflets and drawings. The closing date for entries will be Friday 13 June and ‘scrapbooks’ may be handed in to either Mrs Salter or Mrs Hardisty at any time between now and then. We have three prizes for the top three books and quarter stars will also be given for all entries
