Love Learning @ Lancing Prep at Worthing Nursery
‘Illumination, Inspiration and Independence’
In our thriving and beautifully refurbished nursery we provide a wide range of enriching experiences which are designed to ensure each child’s emotional, social, physical, intellectual and creative development.
For our youngest children, the most effective learning is achieved through first hand experiences. In each nursery session children are given opportunities to make choices within a carefully planned framework of activities. Structured play forms the basis of many activities and children are encouraged to record their experiences when they are ready. We encourage children to think for themselves and act independently. We aim to give them time and space to produce work of quality and depth.
Children learn with our well qualified and experienced staff; the Head of Nursery, a Nursery Teacher and two Level 3 Nursery Assistants. They may attend for a minimum of three half days or two full day sessions. Sessions can vary each term in response to the changing needs of children and families.
The Nursery is housed in a beautiful self-contained wing of the school with its own classrooms, painting room, kitchen and cloakrooms. The children also have access to our nursery garden and make regular use of the school’s many other facilities including our forest area and the fully equipped gym. Once a week the children have specialist music sessions and they sing together every day.
Children may join the Nursery from the term in which they will turn two, and progress to our Pre-Prep at the beginning of the year in which they turn five. We encourage all children in the Nursery to wear school uniform.
Early Years Free Entitlement
We accept the Early Years Free Entitlement in both the Nursery and our Reception class. This can contribute greatly towards the cost of education.
